By Choosing PolyBak, Manufacturers Can Reduce Carbon Impact
Grand Rapids, MI: Richwood Industries, the manufacturer of PolyBak – a leading backer and overlay used in the office furniture and composite panel manufacturing sectors - announced today the release of noteworthy environmental data, demonstrating PolyBak’s significantly low embodied carbon.
To develop and publish this data, Richwood partnered with WAP Sustainability to complete a comprehensive lifecycle assessment and published Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This document provides a transparent and verified breakdown of PolyBak’s environmental performance.
Embodied carbon refers to the greenhouse gasses emitted during a product’s production. PolyBak’s unique manufacturing process uses substantially less heat and energy than alternative products by eliminating the need for high-pressure presses and utilizing a room-temperature curing process. For customers who desire to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, choosing PolyBak could cut the carbon impact of their backer choice – helping them make strides in reaching their sustainability goals.
“We’re excited to share these validated numbers with the public,” said Dan Springer, President of Richwood. “We’ve known the environmental benefits that PolyBak offers, particularly for customers focused on reducing their carbon impact. Now, we have concrete data that empowers them to make sustainable decisions when selecting a backer supplier.”
This is just another way that PolyBak is setting the standard around sustainability. In addition to having a very low carbon impact, PolyBak contributes to clean air initiatives by being the only backer on the market to hold the Formaldehyde Free Validation from UL Solutions as well as the GREENGUARD Gold Certification.
